Madeira-320 renews to ISO 11612:2015 certificate

November 2017. Our fr-fabric Madeira-320 has been re-certified for EN ISO 11612:2015. Due to this ISO certificate is valid only for 5 years, and the original testing was done in 2012, XM FireLine™ has tested this flame retardant fabric once again. The testing has been done at international lab AITEX (Spain).

ISO 11612:2015 (Protective clothing – Clothing to protect against heat and flame) specifies performance requirements for garments made from flexible materials, which are designed to protect the wearer’s body.
The performance requirements set out in ISO 11612:2015 are applicable to garments which could be worn for a wide range of end uses, where there is a need for clothing with limited flame spread properties and where the user can be exposed to radiant or convective or contact heat or to molten metal splashes.

Madeira-320 is pure cotton flame-retardant fabric made of long-staple 100% cotton. It can be used for protective clothing of welders and for FR-clothing for different metal processing works in heavy machinery, automotive manufacturing, etc.

This fr-fabric is comfortable to wear and protects from the risks of flash fire and electric arc. Madeira-320 can be used for everyday flame-retardant workwear such as FR-pants, FR-jackets, FR-bibs, and FR-overalls.
According to EN ISO 11612:2015, Madeira-320 has been successfully tested to the following tests:

  1. Limited Flame Spread (ISO 15025:2002, Method A)
    Requisites to be met according to ISO 15025 

a) No specimen shall give flaming to top or either side edge
b) No hole formation in any layer of 5 mm.
c) No specimen shall give flaming or molten debris
d) Afterflame time is ≤ 2 s
e) Afterglow time is ≤ 2 s

Fabric results for new samples and after 5 washing cycles at 60ºC, according to the standard ISO 6330:2012, method 6N, F drying (tumble dry)

  • Hole formation: No – PASS
  • Loose waste: No – PASS
  • After flame time (s): No – PASS
  • Afterglow time (s): No – PASS

Performance level according EN ISO 11612:2015 – A1

  1. Determination of Dimensional change in Domestic washing and drying (ISO 5077:2008)
  • Warp: +1,0% PASS
  • Weft: -1,5% – PASS
  1. Tear Resistance (ISO 13937-2:2000)
    The external material must resist a determination of tear resistance in both directions ≥ 10 N.
  • Warp: 40N – PASS
  • Weft: 38N – PASS
  1. Tensile Strength (EN ISO 13934-1:2013)
    The material must resist a breaking load in both directions ≥ 300 N.
  • Warp: 1700N – PASS
  • Weft: 870N – PASS

  ISO 12127-1:2007 specifies a test method for the determination of contact heat transmission. It is applicable to protective clothing (including hand
  protectors) and its constituent materials intended to protect against high contact temperatures. ISO 12127-1:2007 is restricted to contact temperatures between 100 °C and 500 °C.
